St John's Redhill

Safeguarding

St John’s Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share in the commitment.

This means that we have a Child Protection Policy and procedures in place. The Policy is available to download in the ' Policies' section under the ‘For parents' tab.

Any parent helpers are required to have an enhanced Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) check before they are able to help in school or on trips. We ask for a regular commitment to be made in order for the school to arrange the check. Please contact the office to arrange this. Parents, and any other visitor, must sign in and wear a visitor’s badge. In order to maintain high Safeguarding standards, the Leadership team will hold a termly parent training session, which volunteers must attend annually.

Advice and guidance are available on social and welfare matters from Education Officers who are based at the Area Education Office. Contact may be made via the school.

There exists within school, a structure which complies with the Surrey County Council guidelines for Child Protection. All staff have received appropriate safeguarding training with several staff members recognised as qualified Child Protection Officers. Should a child make a disclosure then appropriate procedures will be implemented with contact to necessary agencies being made.

Sometimes the school may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.  We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
